Thomas Harper, GOsC Registered Osteopath, BSc (Hons) Ost. Med.
At the age of ten, I saw a science fiction film called āFantastic Voyageā (1966) about a submarine trip through the human body (Does anyone remember this film?) It so fascinated me that I decided that I was going to have something to do with medicine when I left school.
I didnāt get there straight away but as a mature student (and lots of hard and rewarding study) I graduated in 1997 from the British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy or BCNO (Now the British College of Osteopathic Medicine ā BCOM). Since then I get a daily sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when I help people out of pain and back to a healthy, normal life where they can enjoy their everyday activities and past-times with their family and friends.
I believe that osteopathy is one of the most safe and effective ways to treat back pain today. I know this from personal experience of an osteopath who treated my back injury many years ago (my back is now fine ā thanks to him). After his treatments I was delighted to be able to get back to a normal life and engage in my regular sports and social activities with some gusto! Since then, as an osteopath, I have found that too many people leave the health of their back to chance, Osteopathic treatment, sooner rather than later, can save a lot of unnecessary pain and suffering and lead to a happier and more active outlook on life.
As part of my profession, I have to study hard to keep up to date with modern techniques and ever changing rules and regulations from the regulating bodies which govern osteopathy. This keeps both you and me safe and improves the quality of treatment you get from me as an osteopath. Iām happy to say that it also enables me to be able to bring you new, better and much quicker ways of treating the many different conditions that I regularly see every day, so that you can get on with living your life, pain free.
